The grand information and communication technology exhibition, “HMC Nepal Hixemi CAN InfoTech 2025,” which began on Thursday at Bhrikutimandap, is drawing increased attention from visitors. Attendees are showing keen interest in the exhibition of new technologies and solutions to technology-related issues at various company stalls. The organizers estimate that around 350,000 people will visit CAN InfoTech this year.
Sarita Nyaupane, Secretary of the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN Federation), stated that CAN InfoTech, running from Magh 24 to Magh 28 (February 7–11, 2025), is Nepal’s largest information technology fair. Speaking to Nepal News Bank, she mentioned that InfoTech serves as a platform for businesses, experts, and startups to showcase innovations in the IT sector. She added that this event provides an opportunity to explore new technologies, hardware, and software innovations. CAN InfoTech is Nepal’s largest IT fair, where experts and startups can showcase their innovations. She also highlighted that AI technology trends are a major attraction this year, with a special platform dedicated to AI developments.
For the first time, a National Identity Card (NID) desk has been set up at CAN InfoTech. She mentioned that people often wonder where to apply for their National ID, so the facilitation desk allows visitors to complete the process with the required documents.
CAN Federation Vice President Chiranjibi Adhikari highlighted that AI-based projects and Nepalese IT applications are key features of the exhibition. He stated that software solutions for various sectors, including healthcare and agriculture, have been developed using AI. AI is dominating the world, and it’s not just about money—it’s about knowledge and intelligence. That is why an AI robot is also showcased at the exhibition.
The exhibition includes self-driving cars, AI-based disease detection systems for farmers, AI-assisted medical report analysis, smart agricultural applications, and humanoid robots programmed by Nepalese students. Adhikari emphasized that CAN Federation aims to promote Nepal’s IT talent on a global platform and create opportunities for young tech innovators.
CAN Federation Treasurer Bikram Singh stated that CAN InfoTech plays a significant role in Nepal’s economy. This event contributes significantly to the economy, encouraging the growth of new technologies. The government is taking a positive approach to IT policies, and private sector involvement has been substantial.
According to Singh, the daily financial transactions at CAN InfoTech have reached NPR 800,000 to 1,000,000. The federation has also brought international brands to Nepal and is preparing to introduce B2B international brands within the next six months.
CAN Federation Secretary-General Chandra Bilas Bhurtel mentioned that the organization is actively involved in various IT policy recommendations, B2B summits, and industry-academic collaborations. The federation provides policy suggestions to the government, organizes B2B summits, and conducts conferences. Programs are also run to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
CAN Federation, now in its 32nd year, is organizing the 30th edition of CAN InfoTech after a two-year gap due to the pandemic. The first CAN InfoTech had 4,000 visitors, whereas this year’s event expects around 350,000 visitors.
Targeting CAN InfoTech visitors, various tech companies and organizations have launched special offers and discounts. The exhibition features internet service providers, local software companies, computer accessories, IT training institutes, and networking products. Global networking products, wireless cameras, CCTV, and security devices are also on display with special discounts.
AI-powered cameras, humanoid robots, and self-driving cars have added excitement to this year’s event. Additionally, live enrollment for National Identity Cards and cybersecurity assistance desks have been introduced. With 155 exhibition stalls, CAN InfoTech 2025 will continue until Monday.
