Health insurance scheme becoming effective in Baglung

Baglung, October 30: The Health Insurance Programme implemented by the government is found becoming effective in Baglung district. The programme was launched here three years back. So far, 52,208 people have been enlisted in the insurance scheme, according to the Health Insurance Board Office Baglung.

Registration officer at the Office, Jamuna Sharma said the number of people enlisted in the health insurance is increasing in Baglung municipality among the ten local levels in the district. The Board stated that so far 52,208 people have acquired the health insurance policy and have been taking the health services covered under the policy in an effective manner.

People from the economically poor communities in the district have felt relief as they can avail of various health care services under the insurance scheme which they could not otherwise afford. The number of people coming to the Dhawalagiri Zonal Hospital for availing of health services covered by the insurance scheme has increased after its implementation.

The number of patients has increased by three times compared to the number of patients visiting the hospital before, Hospital’s information officer Tirtha Gautam said. According to him daily 300 patients are coming to the hospital now seeking services covered under the health scheme.
