The Nepal Rastra Bank has reported an increase in inflation for the current fiscal year. In the month of Poush, the annual point-to-point consumer inflation reached 5.41%.
In the same month last year, the inflation rate was 5.26%.
The inflation rate for the food and beverage group is 7.67%, while the inflation for non-food and service groups is 4.19%. In the same period last year, these inflation rates were 5.75% and 4.93%, respectively.
In the month of Poush, the annual point-to-point consumer price index for vegetables under the food and beverage group increased by 28.52%, for ghee and oil by 10.67%, for pulses and legumes by 9.48%, and for food and food products by 7.23%. However, the annual point-to-point consumer price index for the spices sub-group decreased by 3.12%.
In the non-food and service group, the annual point-to-point consumer price index for miscellaneous goods and services increased by 9.35%, for alcoholic beverages by 7.01%, for clothing and footwear by 6.75%, and for furniture and household appliances by 5.29%.
In rural areas, the annual point-to-point consumer price index increased by 5.68%, while in urban areas, it increased by 5.31%. Regionally, the annual point-to-point consumer inflation for the review month was 6.73% in Koshi Province, 5.96% in Madhesh Province, 5.14% in Bagmati Province, 4.37% in Gandaki Province, 4.83% in Lumbini Province, 4.60% in Karnali Province, and 5.67% in Sudurpashchim Province.
