The secretarial level meeting held here yesterday formed a five-member team under the convenorship of Ministry’s Joint-Secretary Suresh Acharya. Other members include Ministry’s under-secretary Rajan Nepal, Superintendent of Police Kedar Dhakal, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN)’s Director Kul Prasad Simkhada and CAAN’s Deputy-Director Bikram Gautam.

The committee is tasked to find out the reason behind the fire that erupted at the coffee shop inside the TIA’s sterile area at 8:15 pm on Monday (Feb 10). Furthermore, it has been asked to submit its report to the Ministry within seven days.

The Ministry has expressed sadness over the inconvenience caused to the passengers due to the incident and the subsequent disruption of the flights at the only international airport in the country.

After the inferno was brought under control at 9: 25 pm, the disrupted flight operations resumed thereafter. No human casualty was reported in the incident although the fire had incurred partial damages to the coffee shop.
