Kanchanpur, October 29: After a gap of around seven months, jungle safari has been reopened for the visitors in the Shuklaphanta National Park in the district. Such activity here was prohibited on March 24 when the national lockdown was imposed to stem the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a notice issued by the park, they should follow the health safety guidelines like mandatorily wearing the face masks, using sanitizer and maintaining physical distance while entering it for safari.
Similarly, the nature guide need to accompany the visitors on their tour in the jungle and they are allowed to drive or walk only on the route designated by the Park Office.
Though the jungle safari is opened, the park is yet to open other activities like rafting, elephant safari, fishing and camping inside the park.
Its is estimated that 1,775 people visited the Park for various purposes in the fiscal year 2019/20. This figure is less by 4,294 compared to the previous fiscal year.
Six thousand and sixty-nine visitors had visited the Park in the fiscal year 2018/19. The number of visitors has become almost minimal due to the risk of coronavirus. Shuklaphanta National Park is famous for the largest grassland in the country, large herds of swamp deer and presence of large population of the Royal Bengal Tiger in relatively small area. RSS
