Kathmandu Metropolitan City has commenced its pride project ‘Kathmandu’s Prosperity, Employment and Income Generation’ and the golden project ‘Labour Bank’ with an aim to solve the unemployment problem within three years.
The metropolis informed that the projects came into effect on Monday with the objective of providing skill development training to at least 15,000 individuals, and creating new job opportunities for 5,000 individuals. It informed that skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers and job providers within the metropolis would be brought onto a single platform through the Labour Bank to make the jobs easily available for those in need.
KMC’s permanent residents, its taxpayers and individuals residing in the metropolis with Nepali nationality are eligible to register in the Labour Bank.
Regarding the project, Mayor Balendra Shah said that semi-skilled and unskilled human resources could be employed in the infrastructural development and sanitation sectors while skilled individuals could find employment in various governmental and non-governmental institutions. Additionally, the Labour Bank would provide skill development training to semi-skilled and unskilled human resources and prepare skilled individuals for interviews across various platforms.
According to the KMC, it would establish its own training centres in 15 different places, and provide regular training throughout the year. It intends to supply trained employees to governmental and non-governmental institutions, industries and business sectors.
