Nepal and Eastern African country, Seychelles have reached an agreement to make a bilateral labor pact between the two countries.
The agreement was made in a bilateral meeting between Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha, who is on a visit to Republican Seychelles, and Minister for Employment and Social Affairs Patricia Francourt and Minister for Home Affairs Errol Fonseka. An agreement was reached to form a joint task force to bring the bilateral labor deal to a conclusion in a month, shared the Ministry’s secretariat.
Minister Shrestha said that Nepal was ready to sign a bilateral labor pact with Seychelles. The joint task force will make necessary preparation on the issues such as minimum qualification, linguistic competency, and minimum remuneration.
Ministry’s Under Secretary Dr Thaneswor Bhusal is leading the joint task force on behalf of Nepal. As many as 1,250 Nepali people now are working in Seychelles, Minister Fancourt informed on the occasion, adding their government was interested to import Nepali workers after making the formal signing of the labor pact.
