June 6: Taking part in the deliberations on the fiscal year 2019/20 revenue and expenditure estimates or budget in the House of Representatives on Monday, the ruling and opposition party MPs expressed their respective partisan views on it.
Ruling party MPs Khagaraj Adhikari, Birodh Khatiwada, Padma Narayan Chaudhary, Bishal Bhattarai, Nawaraj Silwal, Maheswar Jung Gahatraj and Yagya Raj Sunuwar said the budget was good in totality, and hence it should be looked at positively rather than protesting it in the name of protest. They also said that there was no doubt that the budget would deliver results if it was strictly implemented.
Opposition party lawmakers however said that the budget was only sharing dreams to the people, when the revenue was finding difficult to meet the current expenditures. NC’s Bhimsen Das Pradhan, Pradip Giri, Bahadur Singh Lama, Amresh Kumar Singh and Meena Subba said the provision of providing loan for academic certificates as collateral and reaching cent percent to the citizens above 70 years were mere dreams.
Also today, MPs Krishna Bhakta Pokharel, Santa Kumar Chaudhary, Man Bahadur Biswakarma, Kumari Tulsa Thapa, Ganga Chaudhary, Durga Poudel, Lal Prasad Sawa Limbu, Sarita Kumari Giri, Durga Kumari Biswakarma, Maina Kumari Bhandari, Hariraj Adhikari, Deepak Prakash Bhatta, Yagya Bahadur Bogati, Beena Budhathoki, Chandra Kanta Chaudhary and Bimala Nepali expressed their views on the good and weak aspects of the budget. The House of Representatives shall meet again at 11:00 am tomorrow.
