Kathmandu, December 5: Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has established four new awards including the ‘Chancellor National Innovation Prize’ with a purse of Rs 200,000 to honour the talents in science and technology. NAST’s secretary Dr Mahesh Kumar Adhikari, in a meeting held at NAST here yesterday, informed that Women Science and Technology Award amounting to Rs 25,000, ‘Science Teacher Award (up to 10+2) Award worth Rs 25,000 and Best Student Award (each male and female up to 10+2) carrying a purse of Rs 25,000 were also set up.

All of these awards will be distributed amid a programme on December 6 this year. The Award is set up in accordance with the National Science and Technology and Innovation Policy-2076 BS recently introduced by the incumbent government to identify the talents in science and technology sectors and to promote them.

The meeting had also wished speedy recovery to the Prime Minister and NAST chancellor KP Sharma Oli who has been kept under medical supervision at the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre in Kathmandu following appendicitis surgery.

Furthermore, Shrestha informed that NAST also initiated construction of the National Building Investigation Centre to promote research of the building, physical infrastructures and settlement and to identify the suitable technology and for facilitation of the technology transfer. RSS
