May 18 : The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has suggested the government to fully concentrate on recovery of the nation economy affected from the coronavirus pandemic. NCC’s Vice-Chairman, Kamalesh Kumar Agrawal, came up with such a recommendation during his meeting with Revenue Secretary, Ramsharan Pudasaini, yesterday in the capital.
According to Agrawal, the government shall unveil a special programme to cushion the impact of the pandemic on the major economic sectors through the new budget.
“The inflow of remittance in the country is decreasing, with more Nepali migrant workers losing their foreign jobs due to the global coronavirus crisis). This will not only affect the liquidity and foreign exchange reserves but also the entire economy in the long run,” the NCC cautions adding that the government shall handle this issue seriously.
It also urged the government to offer several types of financial assistance including grants, loans and duty concession to those industries hit hard by the pandemic through the new budget for 2020/21.
