Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has emphasized that the policies and programmes for the Fiscal Year 2023/24 that have been made public on Friday should be implemented fully in order to find a way out from the economic slowdown.
The NCC also expressed its belief that the policies and programmes would be result-oriented. Through a statement released on Saturday, the chamber has drawn the attention of the government to address the issues included in the policies and programmes through the upcoming budget of the next fiscal year 2023/24.
“The current economic recession and contraction seen in investment have not been sufficiently included and addressed in the policies and programmes. Upcoming budget should be designed in a way that it would pave the way for economic stability,” read a statement issued by the NCC.
Rajendra Malla, President of the NCC, said that the policies and programmes have partially addressed the demands of the private sector. It is necessary to fully implement the announced policies and programmes in order to make production-oriented programmes, industrial development and public-private partnership concepts effective, he said.
The chamber has also drawn the government’s attention to the problem that ambitious plans are announced in the policies and programmes, but implementation is ineffective. The chamber is of the opinion that due to the limited resources and means, implementation of announced programmes is doubtful.
