Nepal’s national flag-carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), has officially launched direct flights on the Kathmandu–Guangzhou–Kathmandu route, starting from September 27.
Although the service was initially scheduled to begin on September 25, it was postponed due to technical reasons, according to NAC.
NAC Spokesperson Manoj Kumar Shah said that the aircraft departing Kathmandu on Saturday afternoon returned with 107 passengers from Guangzhou, marking the commencement of the service.
The airline has scheduled three weekly flights on the route. The first flights will operate on September 28, October 16, October 19, and October 23, after which regular services will be conducted every Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday.
The one-way fare from Kathmandu to Guangzhou has been set at Rs 30,000, while the round-trip ticket costs Rs 50,000, NAC stated.
Currently, China Southern Airlines and Nepal-based Himalaya Airlines also operate regular flights between Kathmandu and Guangzhou. The new service is expected to benefit NAC financially, given the significant number of Nepalis residing in Guangzhou.
With this addition, NAC now operates international flights to 11 destinations across nine countries, including Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Hong Kong, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Bangkok, Dammam, Narita, and now Guangzhou. The national carrier is currently running its services with two narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft.
