Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has introduced discounts on international airfares following a directive from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) to reduce ticket prices. The discounts range from Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000, depending on the destination.

The reduced fares apply to flights to key international cities, including New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore in India; Dubai in the UAE; Dammam in Saudi Arabia; Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia; Hong Kong; Bangkok in Thailand; and Narita in Japan. The fare reductions were made in response to complaints regarding the rising cost of airfares, partly due to the daily 10-hour closure of Tribhuvan International Airport for runway maintenance.

According to Ramesh Paudel, NAC spokesperson, the discount varies by route: Rs 2,500 for flights to Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, and up to Rs 5,000 for flights to destinations like Doha, Dubai, Dammam, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Narita.

In addition, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, NAC has provided special support for cancer patients. From November 1 to 22, 2024, the airline offered 100% discounted tickets for two-way flights to Delhi for 37 cancer patients, along with 50% discounted tickets for 33 attendants, based on medical recommendations and referrals from the Nepal Cancer Relief Society.

This initiative reflects NAC’s efforts to make international travel more affordable and accessible, while also supporting humanitarian causes.
