Kathmandu, April 28 : The Ministry of Health and Population has recorded 927 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of infected persons has reached 36,456 in Nepal. The latest result came after the PCR tests carried out on 10,229 persons. The number of the infected ones before eight days was 30,483 in the country. Information to this was shared by Ministry Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam at the press conference on Friday.

Among the total infected on Friday, 593 are male and 334 female. Similarly, 20,242 persons have so far recovered their normal health. On Friday alone, 169 were recorded to free from the virus.

The rate of the ones freeing from coronavirus is 56 percent. A total of 6,58,110 people have undergone PRC tests in Nepal. Currently, 164 persons are undergoing treatment at ICU ward while 22 are in ventilator support. There are 16,019 active cases of coronavirus. Among them 6,446 are in home isolation and others in institutional isolations.

415 new cases in Kathmandu Valley

The Kathmandu Valley alone witnessed 415 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. It is the highest single day spike so far. Among them, 350 are from Kathmandu, 11 from Lalitpupr and 54 from Bhaktapur.

12 persons lose lives

The Ministry recorded twelve deaths caused by coronavirus in the last 24 hours. It is the highest single day spike. Among them, eight are male and four female. With this, the number of those losing battle against COVID-19 reached 195 in the country. Those losing lives are from Morang, Bhaktapur, Makwanpur, Rupandehi, Kaski, Chitwan, Jhapa, Siraha, Parsa, Dhanusha and Udayapur districts. They belonged to the age from 45 to 83 year, Spokesperson Gautam added. ——
