Kathmandu, November 1 : The first Meeting of Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between Nepal and Mongolia was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu October 31.
Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, Joint Secretary and Head of the North East Asia Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal and H. E. Mr. D. Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia led their respective delegations in the Consultation Meeting.
During the Meeting, various aspects of bilateral relations as well as cooperation in regional and multilateral forums on issues of common interest were discussed. Both sides underscored the need of enhancing cooperation in the areas of trade, tourism, culture and people-to-people contacts for further strengthening the bilateral relations. The two sides also discussed on working together in various global forums to promote the interests of Landlocked Developing Countries.
Joint Secretary Dhakal hosted a luncheon in honour of State Secretary Davaasuren and his delegation.
Other members of the Nepali delegation included officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. The Mongolian delegation consisted of Non-resident Ambassador of Mongolia to Nepal and other officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
The Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries was established on June 12 2018.
