The NEPSE stock index has declined for the second consecutive day. After dropping by double digits on Tuesday, NEPSE fell by 4.45 points on Wednesday, settling at 2,711.45 points.
Despite the overall market decline, the transaction amount increased by approximately NPR 400 million. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange, shares worth NPR 8.95 billion were traded on Wednesday, with 191.81 million shares exchanged in 90,752 transactions across 309 companies. On Tuesday, the transaction amount stood at NPR 8.91 billion.
On Wednesday, the share prices of 113 companies increased, while 122 declined, and seven remained unchanged.
The finance sector saw the highest growth of 5.67%. Other sectors that gained include hydropower (0.04%), non-life insurance (0.19%), and miscellaneous (0.28%). However, declines were observed in banking (0.26%), development banks (0.91%), hotels and tourism (0.48%), investment (0.24%), life insurance (0.31%), manufacturing (0.81%), microfinance (0.26%), and trading (1.42%).
In terms of transaction volume, Nepal Reinsurance Company, Himalayan Power Partner, Saptakoshi Development Bank, Green Development Bank, and Himalayan Urja Development Company led the market.
