On Sunday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a significant drop of 47.44 points, closing at 2,697.91 points.
The market opened at 2,745.36 points and quickly fell to a low of 2,690.41 within the first 16 minutes. It briefly recovered, reaching a high of 2,748.77 points over the next hour and 45 minutes. However, it could not sustain this momentum and declined by about 51 points before the close. The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, fell by 7.91 points. Daily turnover rose to Rs 8.18 billion, up from Rs 7.19 billion on Thursday.
Among individual stocks, 18 companies saw gains, while 226 reported losses. All 12 groups, except mutual funds, ended in the red. Life insurance companies suffered the most, with a drop of 329.20 points, and six groups recorded losses in the triple digits.
Goodwill Finance Limited topped the turnover chart with shares worth Rs 450.70 million traded. Eastern Hydropower Limited was the biggest loser, while Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited saw a significant gain of 10% in its market price.
