On Tuesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a significant decline, dropping 58.93 points to close at 2,470.39. The market opened at 2,529.33 points and peaked at 2,547.20 within the first 25 minutes. However, it steadily declined throughout the trading session, hitting a low of 2,463.24 just before closing, ultimately recovering about seven points.
The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, fell by 9.52 points. Daily turnover increased slightly to Rs 5.68 billion, up from Rs 5.66 billion on Monday.
Out of the individual stocks, only 10 recorded gains, while a staggering 233 experienced losses. All 13 trading groups faced declines, with non-life insurance suffering the most, losing 176.36 points. Seven trading groups experienced three-digit point losses.
NLG Insurance Company Ltd led in turnover with shares worth Rs 184.17 million. Himalayan Hydropower Limited was noted as the top loser of the day, while Swarojgar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd saw an 8.81% increase in its market value, marking the largest gain.
