Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased 20.62 points to close at 2,080.12 points.

According to the NEPSE, the market opened at 2,059.49 points. The index successively rose to the day’s high at 2,098.02 points in the first one and half hours. The index then dropped to as low as 2,075.05 points at the last half an hour of the trading time. The market recovered around five minutes in the remaining period of the intraday trading.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also inclined 5.64 points. The daily turnover amount increased around 31 percent to Rs 6.118 billion. On Monday, the traded amount stood at Rs 4.675 billion. 

Three groups including hydropower, manufacturing and processing, and mutual funds were the losers. Of the remaining 10 gainers, development bank, hotels and tourism, and life insurance added 206.05 points, 152.28 points and 101.06 points, respectively.

Among individual companies, 165 were recorded as gainers whereas 77 companies were the losers.

Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited carried out the largest transactions of its shares worth Rs 214.94 million. Karnali Development Bank Limited gained the highest of 10 percent of its market price. Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost 8.19 percent.
