The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a surge of 77.18 points last week as investors returned to stock trading following the conclusion of the Dashain holidays.
In a three-day trading session, the market opened at 2,668.18 points on Tuesday and closed at 2,745.36 points on Thursday. Throughout this period, NEPSE reached a high of 2,780.97 points and dipped to a low of 2,670.18 points, showing a volatility of 110.79 points.
The market kicked off the week with a gain of 31.48 points on Tuesday, the first trading day after the Dashain holidays. It continued to rise, adding 43.22 points on Wednesday and 2.47 points on Thursday.
Despite these gains over the three trading days, the turnover was less encouraging. Tuesday saw a single-day turnover of just NPR 3.06 billion, marking a four-month low. Overall, the total turnover for the week reached NPR 15.91 billion.
Market capitalization increased from NPR 4.242 trillion to NPR 4.365 trillion during the week, resulting in an overall gain of NPR 122.7 billion for investors in their share portfolios.
