NEPSE slips down 7.24 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 8.174 billion

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday shed 7.24 points to close at 2,155.82 points.

The market opened at 2,163.06 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,133.64 points in the first 15 minutes of the trading period. In the remaining period, the market went through a series of fluctuations and reached the day’s high at 2,167.36 points in the last half an hour of trading period. The index slipped down around 12 points before the market closed for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased by 2.68 points. The daily turnover amount fell to Rs 8.174 billion from Rs 9.768 billion on Wednesday.

Three out of the 13 trading groups had their market values increased. ‘Others’ index increased by the highest of 22.26 points. Of the losers, non-life insurance had the biggest fall of 127.51 points.

Among individual companies, 133 were recorded as losers whereas 112 were the gainers.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited with a turnover of its shares worth Rs 1.844 billion topped the segment. Terhathum Power Company Limited had a drop of 9.43 percent of its market value and was recorded the biggest loser. Ridi Power Company Limited had the highest rise of 10 percent of its market price.
