Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has clarified that there is no shortage of cooking gas in the domestic market and that supplies are sufficient to meet current demand.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the state-owned entity responsible for importing and distributing petroleum products instructed gas industries to ensure smooth and regular supply of LPG cylinders to stabilize the market.
NOC said gas industries imported 47,304 metric tonnes of LPG from Indian Oil Corporation in January. Earlier, imports stood at 47,264 metric tonnes in November 2025 and 48,531 metric tonnes in December. According to the corporation, these volumes are adequate to meet winter demand nationwide.
NOC spokesperson Manoj Kumar Thakur acknowledged that a few industries have reported minor supply issues and said they have been directed to promptly facilitate distribution to normalize the situation.
Considering the current market situation and the upcoming March 5 election, Thakur said NOC has placed an additional requisition for 2,000 metric tonnes of LPG under the regular quota for this month.
NOC has also urged consumers to buy gas cylinders only as needed and cautioned against unnecessary stockpiling.
