June 5 : The Nepal Telecom (NT) is to provide SIM cards without any charge to the Nepali citizens returning home from abroad due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Issuing a press statement on Thursday (June 4), it came with such a decision. “The Nepalis coming from India will be offered free SIM cards from 20 various entry points, while those returning from third countries will get such cards from the quarantine venues designated for them,” it reads.
The NT plans to distribute 100 thousand SIM cards in total. To obtain them, each foreign-returnee will have to produce a copy of citizenship certificate, passport, driving license, travel document or any other identity document for obtaining the.
However, the very cards can also be provided to the Nepalis returning back home the basis of their relatives’ identification documents in case they are unable to produce their own documents.
