The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to 73 internet service providers (ISPs) to clear their outstanding royalties and contributions to the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund (RTDF).
In a notice published on Wednesday, the NTA warned that failure to comply with the directive would result in legal action under the Telecommunications Act of 1997. The authority has instructed the companies to submit both the required financial documents and the pending payments within the given timeframe.
Among the non-compliant ISPs are notable names such as Classic Tech, Dish Media Network, Broadband Nepal, Broadlink Network, and Websurfer Nepal. The NTA stated that despite repeated efforts—including official letters, emails, and public notices—these companies have failed to pay their dues and submit audit reports as required by law.
“All concerned are hereby informed to pay the remaining dues and submit the required documents as per the regulations within 15 days from the date of publication of this notice and inform the NTA accordingly,” the notice stated.
The move highlights the regulatory authority’s increased focus on enforcing compliance in the telecommunications sector, ensuring transparency and accountability in service delivery and financial obligations.
