Kathmandu, January 30: Nepal Telecom (NT) has been able to increase the number of fourth-generation (4G) mobile network subscribers to 4.1 million after its service expansion.
Till the month of September last year, the NT had just around 8,00,000 4G users. But in the last four months, the number of such users saw a rise by 3.3 million following the expansion in service areas.
The NT, which inaugurated its 4G service in 32 districts in October, is currently providing the very service in 66 districts.
It is expected that over 6.5 million subscribers of NT would be benefited from the new 4G expansion plan.
In order to attract more customers to use its 4G SIM cards, it has also launched new schemes. For instance, it is exchanging old SIM cards with new 4G SIM cards free of cost.
The NT introduced 4G service in Nepal in January 2017, thus becoming the first Nepali telcom to do so.
