Lalitpur, Dec 19: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Banskota, has said the country could achieve development with the optimum use of technology. The government is committed to the socio-economic transformation of the country with the promotion of IT, he reminded.
At an interaction organized on ‘Digital Nepal Framework-2019’ by the Ministry here yesterday, Minister Banskota said the Framework had incorporated agriculture, health, education, energy, tourism, commerce and urban infrastructures to implement 80 programs. The people with access to the digital sphere and its knowledge have made tremendous progress, he said, adding that he was devoted to amplify the use of IT for accelerating development activities.
According to the Minister, it had prepared an action plan of five years under this scheme. The government collaborates with private sectors to work on IT sector. “Digital technology is taken as a pillar of national economy to realize the dream of ‘prosperous Nepali: happy Nepali’,” Minister Banskota stressed. The Minister further said the new generation has been attracted to digital technology. Necessary infrastructures would be made with government-private partnership to work in digital technology.
As the country has witnessed stable politics after a long time, works for economic revolution would be expedited, he said, assuring full cooperation with development partners in this regard. On the occasion, Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission, Prof Dr. Pushparaj Kandel, said it is time that economy is driven by IT. “Countries making huge progress utilized IT maximally. Proper policies and programs on it are therefore essential,” he added. Joint Secretary at the Ministry, Birendra Kumar Mishra shared that 4G telecommunication service was expanded to over 50 districts across the country. “Poverty, unemployment, and backwardness can be addressed with digital technology,” he added.
