May 26 : The Education and Health Committee under the House of Representatives has directed the government to allocate the budget of the coming fiscal year focussing on prevention and control of COVID-19. The committee issued this directive to the Ministry of Health and Population on Monday (May 25).
It also suggested the government to increase the tax rates on alcohol and tobacco products, and to invest the collected revenues in the health sector, the committee president, Jayapuri Gharti, said.
The meeting passed the annual report of the committee. It also endorsed four bills pertaining to the Madan Bhandari University and the amendment of education acts.
