Kavrepalanchowk, March 4: Various programmes and events scheduled to be held here in the district have been cancelled in the wake of the risk of infection of the Coronavirus or COVID-19. An emergency meeting of the district disaster management committee took the decision to this effect.
The Visit Nepal Year 2020 unification trail trek event scheduled to be held on March 7 is cancelled due to such risk. The event was supposed to be held by the Nepal Army’s Bishnu Battalion in Dhulikhel with aim to promote the routes used during the unification of modern Nepal.
Likewise, the cottage industry festival, which was supposed to take place on March 15, is also annulled.
The above-mentioned meeting has also requested the local administration and all local levels to avoid the fairs, festivals and other functions that involve gathering of a large number of people until further notice, said the district coordination committee chair Uddav KC.
Meanwhile, isolation wards are being set up at Dhulikhel hospital and the Scheer Memorial Hospital in Banepa. As a precautionary measure, the wards with five-bed each have been set up at the two hospitals in wake of the possible spread of the COVID-19, said senior public health administrator at the Health Office, Dr Narendra Kumar Jha.
