The government will regulate Nepali advertisements as well as other transactions through the Internet and bring them under the tax system.

The policies and programmes presented by President Ramchandra Paudel in the joint session of the House of Representatives and National Assembly of the Federal Parliament on Friday mentions that services will be provided by maintaining the interoperability of online systems operated by government agencies to regulate advertisements and other transactions.

Online services will be provided by ward-level offices and a data exchange platform will be created for exchanging data among different digital systems.  Similarly, Digital Good Governance Blue Print will be developed after mapping the information systems of public agencies.

Research, development and extension of information technology systems will be carried out for a knowledge-based economy and good governance, mentioned the policies and programmes.

Similarly, policy, legal and structural reforms will be carried out to promote freedom of press and expression and to develop dignified journalism.

The government has set a plan to merge Radio Nepal and Nepal Television to start an integrated broadcasting service within this fiscal year by establishing a Public Broadcasting Agency.

Likewise, Press Council Nepal will be converted into a Media Council with new legal provisions to regulate the content published and broadcast through all media.

The government will implement a proportional advertisement system as well as senior journalists’ honour, relief to conflict-affected journalists, health and accident insurance to journalists, women journalists, community journalism and journalism in different languages will be promoted by integrating and reinforcing the Journalists’ Welfare Fund.

The Working Journalists Act will be implemented effectively and necessary arrangements will be made to enhance the capacity of working journalists and conflict-affected journalists in remote areas and to encourage investigative journalism, reads the policy and programmes.

The government will revise Digital Nepal Framework as per the need and effectively implement it as well as a new telecommunication bill will be formulated to make telecommunication service more accessible, qualitative and competitive.

As per the annual policies and programmes, the Security Printing Centre and Printing Department will be merged to bring the printing work under one roof.
