Electricity generation at the Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Project has resumed following the completion of scheduled maintenance. The 73-megawatt plant had been shut down since the second week of December to address technical issues.
Power generation restarted after problems identified at the powerhouse and various equipment were successfully resolved. Routine annual maintenance was also carried out during this period, a step expected to enhance the project’s safety and operational reliability.
During the shutdown, turbines, generators, control systems, and transmission-related equipment were inspected and repaired.
The project, which commenced commercial operation about two years ago, supplies power to the national grid through the Basantapur (Dhungesanghu) substation. The electricity generated is expected to support the Nepal Electricity Authority in power supply management.
Sanima Middle Tamor is currently the largest-capacity hydropower project in operation in the district.
