SCWEC, Nepal selects its new executive body

SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC), Nepal has selected its new executive committee members by organizing a program here in the capital on Monday i.e September 23.

The ten-member executive body, led by vice-chairperson Sarojani Sherchan, consists of Renu Bajracharya, Alisha Shrestha, Basanti Mishra Pradhan, Hem Kumari Adhikari, Julia Chitrakar, Luna Shrestha Thakur, Nita Poudel Adhikari, Soni Joshi, and Sunita Vaidya Shrestha.

Speaking during the program, vice-chairperson Sherchan, expressed commitment that her new leadership would focus on further strengthening SCWEC, Nepal through various initiations.

“We will be having a Fund Raising Program in the coming November to establish a Biodegradable Sanitary Napkin Manufacturing Unit. Similarly, SWEC, Nepal will launch a project named “Teach Girls to Code” to facilitate the participation of especially girls in the IT sector.”

Speaking on the same occasion, Bhawani Rana, president,  Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Industry and Commerce (FNCCI),  said,” Women entrepreneurs across the South Asian region need to come together to develop products from sources like natural fibers and market them internationally.” According to her, such a move can go a long way in enhancing the socio-economic condition of women communities across the region.

 Similarly, Rita Bhandari, immediate past vice-chairperson of SCWEC, congratulated the new executive team and expressed hope that it would continue the programs that strengthen its professionalism through education,   training, and resources.

The SCWEC, operating under the umbrella of FNCCI, aims to work towards facilitating the women entrepreneurs in Nepal to unleash their skills and capacities for the overall economic development.
