Kathmandu, August 25: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has denied lifting the temporary suspension of flights of Simrik Airlines, according to media reports. On Thursday (August 22), the company had submitted necessary documents to the aviation safety department of CAAN for lifting such suspension imposed since last week. However, the Authority decided not to do so citing the continuous failure of the company to meet the technical standards of airworthiness under the Civil Aviation Regulation.
According to the CAAN, the airline company needs to submit additional documents as the available ones presented by the airline company are not inadequate enough to lift the suspension. Currently, both Simrik Airlines’ Beechcraft 1900 series aircraft have been grounded.
While carrying out the inspection on August 18 and 19, CAAN had detected that the use of substandard spare parts by the company in its aircraft. So, the authority imposed the suspension.
Reports quoted a CAAN official
saying that they would again allow the airlines to conduct flights only after
the company replacing the spare parts in its aircraft complying with the CAAN
standards and submitting the necessary documents. The Civil Aviation
Regulation allows CAAN to issue an order to cancel the airworthiness
certificate of any
any aircraft or suspend it if it is flown violating the set terms and
conditions.
