‘Smart Film City’ to be constructed in Lamjung

July 4: Private sector is going to construct a ‘smart film city’ with modern technology at Besishahar municipality of Lamjung district. An agreement was signed between Sky Entertainment Pvt Ltd of Nepal and World Area Holding SRL, an Italian construction company, on Wednesday, June 3 for the construction of ‘smart film city’.

The ‘smart film city’ would cover an area of 5,000 ropani of land. After the construction, it would be the first smart film city to be constructed at the highest point of the world, located at 2,050 meters to 2,900 meters from the sea level. Chairperson of Sky Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Aakash Adhikari, and chairperson of the Italian company, Francisco Signoriello signed the agreement in Kathmandu.

The film city is going to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 6 billion and a target has been set to complete its construction within seven years, said project coordinator Rajesh Kumar Puri. Although 16 shooting spots are to be constructed under the project, 12 would be constructed in the first phase. Different physical infrastructures including college for film studies, cable car, organic farm, hotel, and playground would be constructed.

Meanwhile, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Banskota, has said termed the ‘smart film city’ to be constructed in Lamjung as ‘milestone’ of Nepal’s cine sector. Saying the government recently has forwarded ‘Destination Nepal for film shooting’ campaign, Minister Banskota said the smart film city to be constructed in Lamjung was very good news for the same. He also expressed commitment that the government would provide support in case any problem is faced during the construction of the film city. RSS
