Thai Airways International, the national flag carrier of Thailand, is set to return to the skies in Nepal after a hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline is planning to resume its Nepal flights starting in November.
The company has also made a significant move by appointing Society International Travel Services as its General Sales Agent (GSA), with the appointment becoming effective on August 1, 2023.
As per the agreement, Society International Travel Services will offer comprehensive sales, marketing, and airport services, including all customer and agent support services, on behalf of Thai Airways International.
This development marks a significant moment as Thai Airways International prepares to re-establish its flights to Kathmandu, which were suspended in April 2020 due to the global COVID-19 epidemic.
Thai Airways, which first commenced its flights to Nepal in December 1968, holds a special place in Nepali aviation history, having served the region for an extended period.
The reintroduction of Thai Airways flights to various domestic and world-renowned destinations in Thailand, such as Phuket, Pattaya, Krabi, and the capital city, Bangkok, would greatly benefit the growing number of Nepali tourists and passengers.
Thai Airways’ extensive global network, which includes flights to Australia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and various cities worldwide, would provide convenient and secure travel options for Nepali passengers while simultaneously promoting Nepal’s tourism industry.
This collaboration signifies a positive step forward in re-establishing strong connections between Thai Airways and Nepal’s aviation industry.
With these developments, Thai Airways International aims to play a pivotal role in the revival of international travel connections and bolstering tourism between Thailand and Nepal.
