A ministerial level meeting held at the MoLET on August 21 increased the public transport fare to be implemented from August 24. The new public transport fares have been published in the gazette on Thursday.

According to the new public transport fares, the fare for vehicles operating within Kathmandu Valley has increased to Rs 19 for 5 km, Rs 26 for 10 km, Rs 31 for 15 km, Rs 35 for 20 km and Rs 40 for more than 20 km.

Similarly, the fare of passenger vehicles operating in places other than the valley has increased by 5.31 percent.

As this price is 14.50 percent higher than the price taken as base in the last adjustment, the interprovincial public transport fare was adjusted with effect from August 16.

According to the specified fare issued by DoTM, the fare of passenger vehicles has increased by 4.70 percent. The price of cargo vehicles operating on mountain roads has increased by 6.15 percent and the price of cargo vehicles operating on Terai roads has increased by 6.83 percent.
