Kathmandu, April 9 : The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the country’s sole international airport, has seen a total 19 international flights since the enforcement of the ongoing national lockdown period on March 23.
Spokesperson of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Raj Kumar Chhetri, informed that both chartered and cargo flights were conducted over the last weeks from the TIA. Over 3,000 foreigners belonging to the European countries, the US, New Zealand and Malaysia returned home via during the said period by various airlines.
The Qatar Airway conducted nine international flights, Nepal Airlines Corporation four, and Korean, Malaysia, Etehad, Czech Republican and Titan airways one each to fly them back.
These flights were managed by the embassies of respective countries in Nepal and facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
