MD Ghising, who visited Nawalpur while inspecting the Hetauda-Bharatpur-Bardaghat 220 kV transmission line project, said that the power consumption could not be increased due to lack of transmission line.

“Industrialists are not getting electricity, on the other hand, it is wasted, so it is necessary to build a transmission line soon to increase consumption,” he said.

MD Ghising said that the work could not make progress due to various obstacles during the construction of the transmission line. He said that daily electricity was wasted due to the lack of transmission lines but the industrialists are not getting it.

He said that only 90 megawatts of electricity could be sent from the 132 kV single circuits west of Bharatpur in Chitwan.

He said that the industry was demanding a lot of electricity in Nawalpur, Parasi, and Butwal areas but there was a problem due to lack of transmission lines. MD Ghising said that they have to increase the load to Butwal, Bhairahawa and Nepalgunj, adding that the Hetauda-Bharatpur-Bardaghat 220 KV transmission line should be completed soon at the earliest.

Stating that the Tamakoshi project is currently generating 2,000 MW but could not go west from Bharatpur due to lack of transmission line, he stressed the need to increase the use of electric vehicles to increase electricity consumption. MD Ghising said that charging stations are being constructed in different parts of the country to increase the use of electricity as it is much cheaper than petrol.

Meanwhile, local stakeholders have expressed concern over the delay in the construction of a substation at Boja Pokhari in Nawalpur and the failure to reach the national transmission line in two villages of the district. On the occasion, MD Ghising expressed his commitment to take initiative to complete the substation as soon as possible and not to allow any shortage of budget.

Chief District Officer Manmaya Pangeni informed about the progress of the Hetauda-Bharatpur-Bardaghat 220 KV transmission line project in the Nawalpur area. The transmission line has 193 towers in Nawalpur. She said that 191 towers have already been constructed and two towers could not be constructed in the Dumkibas area due to the stay order of the court.

Chief District Officer Pangeni said that she is working to solve the problem of construction of transmission lines from the local level. There are 246 towers in the west and 226 towers in the east under the Hetauda-Bharatpur-Bardaghat 220 KV transmission line. It is said that the work of Bharatpur East will be completed by March.
