The World Bank has approved a loan of Rs 7.07 billion to help reduce air pollution and improve air quality in Nepal.
According to the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., the funding will be used to implement the Nepal Clean Air and Prosperity Project in areas facing high air pollution risks, including the Kathmandu Valley and some parts of the Tarai region.
Under the project, around 400 industrial and commercial enterprises will be converted into smoke-free operations.
The project will be implemented through the Department of Industry under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, along with the Ministry of Forests and Environment and the Department of Environment, according to a press release issued by the World Bank on Wednesday.
