Held from March 19 to 22 under the theme “Floriculture for a Clean Environment, Employment, and Economic Prosperity,” the event saw strong public engagement from the outset. Organisers noted steady growth in visitor turnout and business activity throughout the exhibition.

Daily figures show 9,500 visitors and Rs 2.15 million in transactions on the first day, followed by 17,500 visitors and Rs 2.95 million on the second day. The third day recorded the highest turnout with 21,500 visitors and Rs 3.98 million in transactions, while the final day saw 12,200 visitors contributing Rs 3.18 million.

The expo featured a total of 83 stalls, including commercial, official, competitive, food, landscape, and selfie sections. A display of a BYD electric vehicle was also included. Participants showcased a variety of flowers and plants, many of which were entered into competitive categories.

FAN officials also highlighted the broader state of Nepal’s floriculture industry. Currently spread across 270 hectares in 52 districts, the sector has attracted investments exceeding Rs 8.83 billion and provides employment to more than 53,500 people.

Despite this scale, the industry is facing challenges due to weak economic conditions and policy constraints. The total annual turnover for the fiscal year 2025/26 is estimated at Rs 3.37 billion, down from Rs 3.68 billion in the previous year.

However, there are encouraging signs. Imports of floriculture products have dropped significantly by 54.27 percent, from Rs 277.9 million to Rs 127 million, while exports have more than doubled, increasing by 109.16 percent to Rs 21.3 million.

FAN President Rajesh Bhakta Shrestha described the expo as a success, citing enthusiastic participation and emerging positive signals for the industry despite existing challenges.
