92 ropanis of forest land encroached in Chandragiri: Nepal Police

Kathmandu, September 26: The forest land at Chandragiri municipality-2 of Kathmandu was found registered in a person’s name and a housing company by producing forged documents. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police shared that the forest land of 92 ropanis was registered in a person’s name with the collusion of the lawyers and employees at Land Revenue Office.

The CIB submitted its report to the Kathmandu District Attorney Office on Wednesday. CIB report, prepared after the directive letter from the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority revealed that the land was brought under the name of Suyal Housing Company, which was later sold to various persons. The CIAA has filed a corruption case against them.

The CIB had also continued the investigation on the organized crime and forgery case filed against six persons including then officer at Land Revenue Office of Kalanki, Shiva Prasad Rimal, and lawyer Ram Bahadur Shah at District Court Kathmandu. A fake land ownership certificate was prepared in the name of Mina Kumari Thapa with the plot of Ram Bahadur Shah to sell 92 ropanis of land bearing the kitta number 101 and sold to the Suyal Housing Company owned by Ram Kumar Suyal Thapa, the CIB added. The present value of land is Rs 58 million.

The CIB has arrested lawyers Yogendra Pokhrel, originally from Okhaldhunga and currently living at Budhanilakantha, Kathmandu; and Baburam Sharma Regmi, originally from Gorkha and currently living at Kuleshwor, Kathmandu. Others arrested under the forgery case in this connection are Shah and Rimal; and Mina Kumari Thapa, originally from Dhading and currently living in Kathmandu, and Ram Kumar Suyal Thapa, originally from Dhading and currently living in Kathmandu.
