May 19 : In what can be deemed as a historic move, the government has endorsed a new political map that incorporates Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura as Nepali territories.
A cabinet meeting held at the official residence of the Prime Minister in Baluwatar on Monday (May 18) decided to take such move.
Minister for Land Management Padma Aryal had presented a proposal of a new political map of the country at the cabinet meeting for endorsement.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the new political map including the Nepali lands of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura illicitly encroached by the Indian side will be published soon.
In October, 2019, the southern neighbour had unilaterally issued a new political map incorporating these lands on its side of border. Moreover, it also inaugurated a link road on 8th of this May that passes through them without consulting Nepal. It is since such inauguration that the territorial dispute between the two countries has been flaring up.
