Nepal Rastra Bank is sending Rs. 20 billion to the banking system through repo. The bank is set to issue Rs. 20 billion repo on Thursday.
All A, B and C class banks and financial institutions may be involved in this 14-day repo. NRB provides funds by giving priority to the higher rates set by these institutions. Banks and financial institutions have used the soft loan facility (SLF) of Rs 51.82 billion on Tuesday alone due to problems in cash management. Banks have to pay 5 percent interest on this loan amount.
