June 14 : The Bagmati state government is presenting a budget of around 50 billion rupees for the new fiscal year 2020/21 on Monday (June 15).
“It will incorporate programmes to revive the state economy hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown through measures like increasing agro production and promoting entrepreneurship,” Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Kailash Prasad Dhungel said.
A ‘COVID-19 special agriculture programme’ is one of the major attractions of the budget. Under this, the returnee migrant workers of the state will be employed in the farming, animal husbandry and poultry based on their skills and experiences.
Likewise, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment has targeted to generate employment to around 300,000 youths in the new fiscal year. Similarly, it plans to promote self-employment by allocating budget of Rs. 3 million to each local level apart from implementing the ‘one constituency, one industrial village’ program .
The proposed budget will allocate resources for technology transfer, raw materials processing, industries based on agriculture, fruits, herbs and forest in the new fiscal. At the same time, it will give continuity to the construction of tourism related infrastructure like hill stations, tourist village, film city, Gaurishanker, etc. The budget will also be focused on establishing wood seasoning and treatment plant in Kavrepalanchowk and Sindhupalchowk districts in the Bagmati state.
