In the first 11 months of the current Fiscal Year, imports of goods in country amounted to Rs. 1.763 trillion while the exports remains around Rs 185 billion.
According to the data released by the Customs Department, the trade deficit has reached Rs 1.578 trillion in 11 months.
Commodity exports increased by 53.3 percent over the same period last year. Commodity imports have increased by 27.5 percent.
Statistics from the Customs Department show that Nepal’s foreign trade deficit has been steadily increasing.
Commodity imports in country saw an increase in petroleum products, gold and oilseeds, while exports saw an increase in commodities such as soya oil, palm oil and yarn.
