Dang, December 23: Dang turns self-sufficient in food production with the annual production rate reaching 123,581 metric tons and the consumption being 115,179 metric tons.
According to the Agricultural Knowledge Center’s assistant information officer, Phirtuman Chaudhary, the estimated population in the district is 636,349 and the existing production is enough to meet the people’s food requirements. Dang’s population growth is 1.78 each year and 181 kilograms of food is required per person every year.
It means that the district saves 8401.83 metric tons of its production annually, said Chaudhary, adding that the production is increasing each year. The district exports the leftovers as production of rice, maize, wheat, millet, barley, and buckwheat exceeds the demand for it, he said.
