The western section of the Mugling-Pokhara Road Project, spanning 38.8 kilometers from Jamune in Tanahun to Setipul in Pokhara along the Prithvi Highway, has had its deadline extended for the second time. The new completion date is now set for December 2025, as confirmed by Saujanya Nepal, an engineer overseeing the project.
China’s Anhui Kaiyuan Road & Bridge Company is responsible for the construction, which is being carried out at a cost of Rs 7.40 billion. The company has pledged to complete the work within the revised timeline. So far, the project has achieved 34.94 percent physical progress. The first layer of blacktopping has been completed on 23.91 kilometers of the stretch, with 5.45 kilometers constructed as a two-way road and 18.46 kilometers as a one-way road. Out of the 11 bridges planned for the section, only five have been completed to date.
Despite the progress, significant work remains to be done to meet the extended deadline.
