Dhangadhi, July 14: A fiscal literacy campaign has kicked off in the Far West State as per the State government’s policy of ‘one person: one bank account’ programme. Minister for Internal Affairs and Planning, Jhapat Bahadur Bohara, inaugurated the campaign by unveiling a handbook related to fiscal literacy.
The campaign targets all 88 local levels under the State. “Every citizen shall be provided with the handbook which is expected to encourage the citizen to open the bank account, making them aware of its importance”, Bohara said on the occasion. The book provides information in detail about bank and finances, cooperative, insurance, capital market, processes of the opening of bank accounts and doing economic activities.
It has been expected that the book would be helpful in maintaining fiscal discipline and imparting knowledge about the financial law among the people. The book presented in the question-answer form includes 58 related questions and their answers, according to Ministry Secretary Gopal Prasad Aryal.
Six local levels, out of 88, in the State, have no access to banking facilities at the locality. The situation of fiscal literacy is weak in the State. Sixty percent of the total population is estimated to be out of fiscal access.
