Kathmandu, November 26 : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has inaugurated the 54th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) at his residence Baluwatar today.
Addressing the AGM, PM Oli said that the private sector is reeling under the yoke of the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, thus negatively affecting the entire national economy. “As such, the government will lend support the sector so as to spur the economic growth of the country.”
He, however, argued that the economic health of Nepali economy is less severely impacted by the pandemic compared to that of other developed economies across the world.
“We (Nepal) witnesses zero percent growth in the last fiscal year 2019/20, while the economic growth rate of developed countries was negative.”
The 54th AGM of the umbrella body of industries and enterprises of the country is being held for three days starting from today.
FNCCI will be elect a new executive committee on Saturday (November 28) after the close session ends.
Shekhar Golchha is all set to lead the FNCCI for the next term as per its statute.
It is learnt that there will be election for the other posts. Serving vice presidents of FNCCI Chandra Dhakal and Kishor Pradhan are vying for the post of senior vice president during the election.
