According to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), total government expenditure during the first ten months of the fiscal year reached Rs 1.173 trillion. The total budget allocated for the current FY stands at Rs 1.964 trillion, meaning 59.75 percent of the annual budget has already been utilized.

Under the recurrent expenditure heading, the government allocated Rs 1.180 trillion for the current fiscal year. By mid-May, Rs 814.655 billion — or 68.98 percent of the allocation — had been spent.

Likewise, capital expenditure remains relatively low. Out of the allocated Rs 407.88 billion, only Rs 113.849 billion, or 27.91 percent, has been utilized so far.

In terms of fiscal management, the government has spent 65.30 percent of the allocated budget. A total of Rs 245.15 billion has been spent from the Rs 375.24 billion earmarked for this category during the current fiscal year.

Meanwhile, revenue collection has reached only 66 percent of the annual target by mid-May. The government had set a target of collecting Rs 1.533 trillion in total revenue for FY 2025/26, but collections have so far amounted to Rs 1.1252 trillion.

Of the targeted Rs 1.48 trillion in revenue collection, the government has managed to collect only Rs 988 billion in the first ten months, equivalent to 66.69 percent of the annual target.

Similarly, foreign aid inflow has also remained below expectations. Against the annual target of Rs 53.446 billion in foreign assistance, the government has received only Rs 17.787 billion so far, achieving 33.28 percent of the target, according to the FCGO.
