Kathmandu, October 26: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota has said Nepal is for moving ahead with common concept of digital connectivity.
Minister Baskota said this upon his arrival from India after attending the Indian Mobile Congress 2018 being held in New Delhi from October 25 to 27. He had been there at the invitation of the Indian Ministry of Communications.
Talking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport after the arrival, the Minister said he shared at the Congress that Nepal was in a campaign of ‘Prosperous Nepal-Happy Nepali’ with the stable government in place following the end of long political transition. In order to realize the campaign, the role of information technology (IT) would have instrumental role, he added.
The Minister, at the Congress, also underscored the expansion of the south Asian sub-regional economic corporation information highway to encompass all countries of the region. He also said time has come to reduce the digital divide.
The Mobile Congress was attended by the Information Ministers of the member states of the BIMSTEC and ASEAN.
Minister Baskota also held bilateral meetings with Indian Minister of State for Communications, and Minister of State for Railway. During the meetings, issues relating to bilateral interests and communications were discussed. RSS
